The family of a man recently killed by police and the Fresno Brown Beret’s will be at the Fresno Police Department Wednesday to protest the police homicide.  Freddy Centeno was schizophrenic and allegedly pulled a water nozzle on officers.  Police responded by shooting him 9 times and he died a few days later.

Freddy Centeno was shot 9 times by Fresno police officers two weeks ago in southeast Fresno. On Friday evening Freddy died.  Freddy suffered from mental illness and although he had a plastic handle to a sprayer in his hand, and police knew of his mental condition, they didn’t bother to try to talk him into complying. During this week 3 people were shot and now two of them have died within a five-day span. Freddy’s family has reach out to us to hold a protest so that people know that the FPD has failed to work with people with mental illnesses. This in fact was a reason we occupied the office of the city manager last summer and demanded mental health intervention and not bullets to the head!

Please join the family on Wednesday September 30, 4pm – 5pm, in front of the Fresno police headquarters to bring attention to this police force that refuse to save lives when it’s possible.
