Protesters Shut Down Monsanto's Woodland Facility

So once again it’s May and that means it’s time for another “March Against Monsanto”.  If you are asking yourself, why would people do this? Just google Monsanto and take your pick from one of their many terrible practices. What is talked about most concerning Monsanto is GMO’S (Genetically Modified Organisms).  But there are larger issues in play like the fact they are polluting our planet with round-up. Glyphosate is the main ingredient in round-up and it’s been linked to a number of problems, the worst being cancer.  Another problem with this horrible corporation is the fact that ex-Monsanto employees are allowed to be heads of the FDA, creating one hell of a conflict of interest.

Whatever your problem is with the Monsanto monster one thing is clear, people are pissed and with good reason.  It’s kind of a hard pill to swallow when you find out your being poisoned. So this is why every May people from all over the world march in solidarity to bring awareness to Monsanto’s crimes.  One group decided to take it one step further and lock down the biggest bio-tech facility in the world, Monsanto’s Woodland plant.  Activist took to Hwy 16 around 4 am to take on this large task. Large orange safety netting was stretched along the main driveway preventing any employees from entering.

Sadly some employees did make it to work due to the 7 driveways and not enough bodies to cover them all.  There was mild push back from police but no arrests were made. But mild set backs did not stop the activists from getting their message across to the public due to that large amounts of traffic.  On top of the traffic there was a fantastic media presence.

If this is the first you are hearing about Monsanto and your upset there are three things you can do.

  1. Research
  2. Inform
  3. Fight back
