Ferguson Police Chief Resigns

Ferguson Police Chief Resigns

The Chief of the Ferguson police department will announce his resignation on Wednesday, sources told Fox News.

The announcement follows a scathing report by the Department of Justice accusing the city and police department of discriminatory policing for revenue, consequently leading to a city clerk and two police officers losing their jobs, Municipal Court Judge Ronald Brockmeyer resigning, and City Manager John Shaw’s termination.

Today, Chief Thomas Jackson will join their ranks.

Jackson’s decisions during the Ferguson uprising over the shooting death of Michael Brown is a subject of scrutiny and the announcement comes as welcome news to many.  An editorial in the Washington Post outlines how Jackson “made a volatile situation worse”.

According to the DOJ report, investigators uncovered “a pattern or practice of unlawful conduct within the Ferguson Police Department that violates the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution, and federal statutory law.”

Darren Wilson may not have been charged for his crimes, but the verdict is in for the rest of the city and it says “Guilty”.
